Qi Baishi Youth Painting and Calligraphy Competition Exhibition Debuts at Carrousel du Louvre

The outstanding exhibition of works from the Qi Baishi Youth Calligraphy and Painting Competition has concluded successfully at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, France. Supported by the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la France (French National School of Fine Arts) and the Qi Baishi Art Research Center, this landmark event showcases the charm of traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy to the world, building a bridge for cultural exchange between Chinese youth and their global counterparts. It has received widespread acclaim and high recognition from domestic and international guests and media outlets.

Focusing on the inheritance and innovative expression of traditional calligraphy and painting by young people, the exhibition pays tribute to the master of traditional Chinese painting, Qi Baishi. After rigorous selection by the organizing committee, over 100 exceptional works were displayed at the Carrousel du Louvre—including exquisite flower-and-bird paintings, landscape scrolls, and creative pieces integrating modern aesthetic elements. These works vividly interpret the artistic spirit of Qi Baishi’s “Those who learn from me will live, those who imitate me will die,” demonstrating young artists’ profound understanding and unique interpretation of traditional art while infusing it with contemporary vitality.

At the exhibition site, audiences from diverse ethnic backgrounds paused to appreciate the artworks and exchanged insights. Both Chinese and foreign media have paid close attention to this cultural exchange activity. Many visitors pointed out that the exhibition not only presents the artistic talents of Chinese youth to the world but also promotes the international spread of traditional Chinese culture through calligraphy and painting, injecting new vitality into aesthetic education dialogue between Chinese and foreign young people.

A person in charge from the Qi Baishi Art Research Center stated that the center will continue to be committed to supporting the internationalization of youth aesthetic education. Through the “competition + exhibition” model, it will build a platform for more Chinese youth to showcase their talents, enabling traditional painting and calligraphy to shine on the international stage. The organizers revealed that a series of touring exhibitions and cultural exchange activities will be launched subsequently to further deepen artistic communication between Chinese and foreign youth and promote Chinese aesthetic culture to a broader global audience.
