From a Silent Swedish Childhood to a New Life Across the Atlantic: Bo Lange Shares His Extraordinary Journey

South Escanaba, Michigan – May 14, 2026 — A lonely boy who cried himself to sleep in a home filled with grief grew up to cross an ocean, find his calling, and spend forty years helping others heal. Bo Lange finally tells his own story in Sweden to USA: Faith & Adventure, a memoir that reads like a quiet conversation with a wise friend.

Bo Lange grew up in Sweden with parents who barely spoke to each other. The drowning death of his older brother cast a permanent shadow over the family. Bo Lange’s father never said, “I love you.” His mother turned to her young son for emotional support. At four years old, Bo Lange learned to carry pain that no child should carry. But then something unexpected happened. A small Sunday school in a nearby town introduced him to a God he did not yet understand. That spark of faith would eventually pull him out of the darkness and send him on an adventure across the world.

The core message of Sweden to USA: Faith & Adventure is simple yet profound. Healing does not require a perfect past. Faith does not demand a happy childhood. And adventure does not mean running away. It means walking toward something greater than your fear. This book speaks directly to immigrants who feel torn between two countries, to anyone carrying unhealed family wounds, and to readers who want to believe that God still works in messy, ordinary lives. It also offers encouragement for pastors and ministry workers who face burnout and loneliness in their own vocations.

Bo Lange writes with the honesty of a Scandinavian and the warmth of a small-town pastor. He does not dress up his pain or polish his mistakes. He tells you about the time he nearly poisoned ship officers because he did not know how to use a coffee machine. He admits he did not propose to his wife. She asked him first. His prose is direct, unpolished, and deeply human. You will feel like you are sitting in his living room in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula while he points to old photographs and laughs at himself.

After thirteen years of pastoring in Sweden, Bo Lange moved his young family to America. He started over in Virginia, then found his way to Michigan, where he served congregations for four decades. He became an emergency medical technician, drove ambulances, and earned the nickname “Pastor Bo Flash” after a garage door fell on his ambulance roof. Through every failure and small triumph, Bo Lange held onto a faith that never promised an easy life but always promised presence.

Sweden to USA: Faith & Adventure is available now at Amazon and at all online bookstores and major retailers.
